West Indies beat New Zealand in Super Over to stay in semis hunt
1 Oct 2012
West Indies knocked New Zealand out of the World Twenty20 in a dramatic Super Over on Monday after their group one match finished in a tie. Chasing 140-run target, New Zealand struggled as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Ross Taylor, after playing a stellar 62 from 40 balls in the actual 20-over innings, starred yet again in the Super Over, scoring 15 runs on his own as the Kiwis set the Windies a target of 18. A couple of sixes from Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels off Tim Southee ensured there would be no last-ball drama for the Caribbeans.
Earlier, pacer Doug Bracewell (31 for 3) came up with superb bowling effort as New Zealand bundled out West Indies for a lowly 139.
