Nasir Jamshed scored a fluent 55 as Pakistan posted 149/6 against Australia before a five-man spin attack restricted the Aussies to 117/7. Saeed Ajmal claimed 3-17. Both teams ended the Super Eights on four points each, which knocked winless South Africa out of the tournament. Despite the defeat, Australia advanced to join Sri Lanka and West Indies in semi-finals with a superior net run-rate.
